Happy Birthday

Hi! It is designer April here again from Stampwilly Designs. It seems that I am always needing birthday cards, so I am showing you a birthday card I made following the sketch challenge we are having this month.

I ran white card stock through a dotted swiss embossing folder. The fun balloon patterned paper was cut using the Spellbinders Labels 8 die. I used Diamond Glaze on the dark pink balloon. You can see the shine on the right top of it. I colored and fussy cut the Gift Cube stamps and pop dotted them at the bottom of the card. I added polymer dots coming out of the open gift and green ribbons to the right side of the card. I used the birthday saying from the Sentiments 1 Unmounted Sheet.

I would love for you to join the sketch challenge for this month. You could win a gift certificate to the store! We would love to see your wonderful cards.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a great day!

Peacock Feather notecard

Hello, from design team member, Heidi!  Thanks for stopping by the Just for Fun Rubber Stamps blog!  I like to keep some pretty all-occasion notecards around at all times.  I might want to sent a photograph to a family member or send a note of encouragement to a student who just moved off to college.

I made this card using the Peacock Feather stamp.  It is so pretty, it can really stand alone on a card.  I inked it up with three colors of Distress Oxide ink.  I used a pigment ink since I planned to stamp right on a colored cardstock and I knew that it would give me full coverage.

After adding the sentiment (from the Just a Note Word Block set) with black ink, I just added some pretty rhinestones from my stash.

I hope you will have some time to be creative today!  Why not try out our September Sketch challenge!  Find that sketch and instructions on how to enter here!  You could be the random winner of a gift certificate to the JFF store!

Witches, Ghosts, & Magic

Hi Guys, It's Jen here from The Scrap Shack. Today's project is a little different from the cards that  I typically post, but it really showcases the new seasonal stamps from JFF and I couldn't resist posting it.

This pocket letter was created for a "Halloween Extravaganza" swap and is made from a 12" x 12" pocket sleeve. Pocket Letter's are really fun because it's like decorating 6 cards in 1 (Plus you get to gain a new pen pal!!)

Each card was hand made using pattern paper and seasonal embellishments. I also decided to pull out some of those fabulous Just For Fun Halloween stamps and add a little bit more to those blank spaces.

I love these stamps! I used Witch's Laundry and the Witch Silhouette, Large for the front and then since I'm placing some additional goodies in the back I stamped the ghost onto some vellum and the witche's magic onto some white cardstock, this way my new Pen Pal can play around with these awesome images also.

Thanks so much for checking out my project today! I hope you were inspired. Please also make sure to check out those new stamps over at Just For Fun and you can also check out more inspiration on my blog Scrap Shack Designs. Happy Crafting!

Fireflies or Lightning Bugs?

What do you call the insects that fly around in the summer and have a rear section that glows in the dark? Fireflies or lightning bugs? I guess it depends on where you live...

I've heard them called both here in Louisiana, but we always called them fireflies!
I used five different new release stamps to create my scene, the small canning jar, canning jar wire handle, firefly outline, firefly silhouette, and the old crooked tree. The sentiment was created using an old font stamp set from my stash. Check out the JFF Rubber Stamps online store for more new releases and join our monthly challenge for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to buy some of them for yourself! This month's challenge is to use this card sketch...lots of creative possibilities!

Happy Halloween Witch

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here again today and I've used some great stamps from the store to create my card.   The new releases are awesome!!

I love this Moonlit Witch Silhouette.  As I wanted to keep the focus on the witch, I stamped her in black ink and then stamped the surrounding images in shades of blue and green.

Because of the design of the stamp, I thought she'd look great peaking out of a card, so I die cut a circle in the card front and added a die cut border on top.  The stamped image was placed behind the die cut opening.

Happy Halloween is from Sentiments 1 which I stamped on the same paper as the die cut border.  I then mounted it on black cardstock and added it to the card with foam adhesives.

My next card uses the Witches Magic stamp.

I love the fun whimsical nature of this stamp.  I can almost see the shoes and broom dancing around the room, can't you?

I also used Happy Halloween from Sentiments 1 to grace the side of this card.

Thanks for stopping by.

Steph

You Are Fabulous

It has been very hard for many this weekend and so I thought I would share a colorful and uplifting card today.

The new Paint Brushes and Small Canning Jar images were used on this card.  The Small Canning Jar was stamped over the Paint Brush image and both were colored with Copic Markers.  They were fussy cut, layered on black, and cut again.

This was layered on a background created by streaking ink on glossy cardstock.  I used reinkers on a piece of felt on a handle and ran this across a piece of glossy several times.  The sentiment,  You Are Fabulous, was stamped along the side in black.

A Colorful World

Hi! It is designer April here from Stampwilly Designs. I hope you are having a good day. I want to show you a card I made using some of the great new stamps that have just been released. You can find all of them here.

On this card I used the CJ-Canning Jar Large, Paint Brushes and Colorful and Happy stamps. The background was made by dropping Color Burst colors on watercolor paper and spritzing the colors lightly with water. I stamped the brushes onto the background and colored them with Spectrum Noir markers. The metal areas were colored with a silver paint pen. The jar was stamped on acetate using Staz On ink and fussy cut. I adhered the jar over the brushes. You can see the shine on the left side of the jar. The saying was layered on red card stock for a border and adhered across the front.

There are so many things one can do with this jar stamp!

I hope you will enter our sketch challenge for this month. We would love to see your creations and you may even win a gift certificate to the store!

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a colorful day!

Reuse, Recycle, Brighten & Unique...

Good day peeps, today's post is all about reusing and/ or recycling images! Have you ever stamped up an image, colored it and then decided it wasn't worthy to make it onto a project or card? That happens to me more than I would like to admit. I have a solution that works well for me. What is it? Keep reading and hopefully you will get an idea or two on what you can use your somewhat unloved images for.
I am a stationary and planner addict. I can't pass by a shelf that holds paper, planners and pens. So I figured instead of using my normal planner stamps or stickers, I would re-use some unloved images. I like to call those my "test" mock-ups.  It's a great way to add color and interest whilst reducing waste. Do you have any ideas that you could use your unloved images on? How about that calendar hanging on your wall or fridge? Maybe you could add them to an envelope that you are mailing to a friend. What ever the use you come up with, the end result will be bright, unique to you AND you can say it was recycled!
Have a wonderful day!

At River's Edge - Anniversary Card

Hello from design team member, Heidi!  Did you see Just for Fun's new Summer 2017 Release?  It includes fun stamps for fall and even Christmas, and has many lovely silhouette stamps and scene stamps!  The stamp I used today is call At River's Edge and it is such a lovely, romantic scene!

This card was easy to put together. I stamped right on some patterned paper called Aquarelle by LoveNicole.  (You could mimic this patterned paper with watercolors, if you wanted.) I then used distress ink to sponge around the edges.  I added a black mat to bring out the image and then stamped the sentiment from Sentiment Set 1 on a scrap piece patterned paper.  A little heart rhinestone anchors the sentiment to the rest of the card.

I hope you are having a great day!

Water Block Halloween Stamp

Hi Guys Jen here with a really festive card. Today I have a video tutorial showing off a really awesome technique. If you follow me on Facebook at all then you already know that I have been super addicted to watercolor everything, from the cards and coffee workshop next month to even making gorgeous backgrounds for these festive cards.

This technique is so super simple to do, and like with any water coloring technique, it produces amazing results every time. For the card above I simply used the technique for the background and then stamped and embossed the front.

This technique would work awesome with any of our new stamps including the Moonlit Witch Silhouette one that I used. If you have not had a chance to check out our brand new releases then make sure to hop on over and check them out here

As promised here is the video tutorial showing you how to do this super simple technique.

Thanks for stopping in today and Happy Crafting.

Take a Walk in the Rain!

I love to walk in the rain. Enjoying those moments of complete freedom is something we forget about doing as adults. Every kid wants to play in the rain, get wet, and splash in puddles! Try it the next time it rains…grab your umbrella and some rain boots and take a walk.
JFF Rubber Stamps Girl with Umbrella Silhouette Skyline Silhouette and Dreaming word art. Club Scrap®card stock from the Lagoon kit.

The metallic silver embossing on dark card stock is so dramatic! I love the effect!

The stamps used on my card are part of the Summer 2017 stamp release at JFF Rubber Stamps here. There are some new fall holiday and winter themed stamps as well as mason jars and outdoor scenes. I am in love with the new Halloween stamps! If you like what you see, join in the new monthly challenge on the Just For Fun Rubber Stamps blog. They switched things up a bit this month…instead of a theme challenge, they are hosting a sketch challenge!

Make something using the sketch and link up here for a chance to win a gift certificate to shop at JFF Stamps!

Needed - Beach and Lottery Ticket

Any teachers out there that have recently returned to work?  I know you can totally relate to the card I am sharing today.

I created the background using some new Oxide Distress Inks, lightly spritzed with water on a craft sheet.  The color was picked up with a piece of cardstock, drying in between layers.  This piece was trimmed and layered on green and blue.

The Hammock in Palms image was stamped in black on top of the background and colored with Tombow Markers.  The image was stamped a second time on white cardstock and the leaves were colored and fussy cut.  They were slightly curved and popped up over the first image.  This gave it some great dimension.

I used a fun sentiment, Needed Immediately..., stamping it in a “beachy” color and layering it on green.

Teachers, we probably will feel more like this later in the school year, but it is always a good time to be at the beach.

Fancy Fish

Hi Everyone! This is designer April from Stampwilly Designs. I hope you are having a good day. I just love all the great stamptangle stamps we have here at Just For Fun. There are so many ways to use them and they have such a unique look. You can take a peek at them here. I decided to use the small Stamptangle Fancy Fish on this card. I found a new technique and thought the fish would go perfectly with it.

I used patterned paper and several pieces of different colors of card stock. I used Spellbinders Small Circles dies to cut circles from each piece, each circle getting smaller. I layered all the card stock and patterned paper on top of each other to make a porthole. The fish was stamped, colored with markers, fussy cut and pop dotted to the card. I added green rhinestones to the fish and porthole for embellishment. The saying is from the Sentiments 3 unmounted sheet. I stamped just part of the saying since it did not fit on the tag. Clear Stickles was added across the card for waves.

You still have a few days to join in our Hot Hot Hot challenge. You might even win a gift certificate to the store.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a great day!

Sea Turtle Seascape

Hello from design team member, Heidi!  I have a card to share using a stamp from Just for Fun's brand new Summer 2017 Release!  It is called Sea Turtle Seascape and I really love it.

I created a quick background using a technique called Floating Alcohol Inks.  You just fill a container with water, squirt in some alcohol inks and then dip your paper in and out, and let it dry.  Here is a video from YouTube with the process.  You do have to allow drying time, but the technique just takes a minute.

I stamped right over that background and simply framed it. I thought about how sea turtles take a long journey across the ocean to get to their nesting sites, and that is why I added this particular sentiment from Sentiment Set 3.

There are lots of new stamps in the Summer 2017 Release! Check them out here!

Our August "Hot, Hot, Hot!" Challenge is still going on, I hope you will submit an entry!

And come back again soon for more inspiration from the Just for Fun Design Team!

Think Big!

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here again today and I've used some great stamps from the store to create my card.

I created a fun summery card.  The image I used is from the Vintage series -  Girl Fishin' and I colored her with Copic Markers.  I fussy cut her and placed her upon coordinating die cut ovals.  Then I paired her with a sentiment from the Sentiments 1 stamp set.  I can just envision her thinking of the big fish she wants to catch!

Isn't she lovely sitting on the stump thinking about what's to come?

Thanks for stopping by.

Happy Fall

I live in the NorthEast of the US, you know where we really get into Halloween!! And since Aug. is already upon us I have decided to dust off all of my Halloween papers, stamps, and embellishments and get to work on making all of my Fall/Halloween stuff.

As I was dusting off all of my stuff I came across these awesome Just For Fun stamps from last fall... I mean seriously who can do Halloween any better. I'm talking about spooky trees, cats, scarecrows, and of course the Pumpkins (both seasonal and stamptangle!!)

Seriously I mean check out the way that the stamped Jack-O-Latern pops right off from the background!

This card was made using some serious layers. I cut and matted each patterned paper with a solid color, in this case I used purple. Then I inked around all of the edges to give the card more of a "worn" look. The "treat" sentiment is from a small Halloween Bingo card I had in my stash which I just stuck behind one of the layers. I found that bat in a bag of decorative stickers from a dollar store.

The stamp is an image, found here, that I simply stamped in white ink and then white heat embossed it. When I was happy with the image I fussy cut it out and added it to the card front. I love the stitched mouth of this image and how the embossing makes those eyes really stand out.

Thanks for stopping in today. I hope you enjoyed my festive card!
